Ordering, Postage and Delivery

The easiest way to place an order is to send me an email listing the plants you are interested in. There is absolutely no obligation involved. I will reply promptly giving all relevant information and confirming prices, availability and despatch possibilities.
If you have any questions either email or phone but please first read the faq’s on the information page. My contact details are on the Contact page, or click the green button “Place an order”. I regret that as a small specialist producer I am unable to offer credit or debit card facilities, however a Paypal service is available and you may also pay by direct bank transfer (my preferred method) or by cheque. I will send the appropriate instructions on the order confirmation.

Plants will be sent in recycled packaging where possible. They will be securely wrapped in a damp medium inside a waterproof outer. Smaller orders are sent by ordinary first class post unless otherwise requested. This is NOT a guaranteed next day service, but the vast majority arrive next day. Larger orders are usually sent by next day carrier. Plants are usually despatched on Tuesdays or Thursdays to ensure arrival by the weekend, but if this is not convenient please ask. If you live in a remote location then I prefer to send on a Tuesday to avoid the possibility of parcels spending the weekend in a depot.

If nobody is at the delivery address to receive delivery there is the possibility that the parcel will be returned to the depot. There is nothing I can do about this and delays caused by failed delivery attempts are not my responsibility. If you are unable to be present then you must give me a delivery address where someone will be, or state a place where the parcel can be safely left.

For orders up to £25 a postage and packing charge of £5.95 applies;
Orders between £25 and £40 are charged at £7.95;
Orders between £40 and £60 are £9.95
and the postage is capped for orders over £60 at £11.95. A typical order of £80 usually costs me about £18 to send, so this cap represents a 10% discount.

Any order that includes baskets of 3 litres and larger will attract a minimum postage rate of £9.95 due to the new Royal Mail size restrictions. The 25 litre baskets will be specifically quoted for.

Surcharges may apply to larger orders sent by carrier to Highlands and Islands, other offshore islands including Channel Islands and Northern Ireland, but I will confirm these on request.

I am happy to quote for alternative delivery options including guaranteed, tracked and/or timed delivery.

I do not expect to make a profit from postage charges; they simply reflect the actual cost of getting plants to you in first class condition. I actually bear a loss on carriage on most orders. I am very happy to quote for large orders where discounts may be available.
Plant parcels should be opened as soon as possible and then planted promptly in suitable containers or in the ground. Please refer to the Information page for planting and aftercare tips.

Please note that website prices apply to bare rooted plants paid for in advance and either mailed or collected from the nursery. Prices for potted plants are on display at the nursery and can be supplied on request. Bare rooted plants are not generally available at the nursery without prior notice as they take some time to harvest and prepare. Customers arriving unexpectedly with a long wishlist may be asked to return later.

No Quibble Guarantee

It is my earnest wish that you are more than satisfied with my plants and to this end I guarantee that if you are unhappy with any plant you may return it promptly for replacement or refund, not including original postage costs. This is not a lifetime guarantee! I feel that if you receive a good sized healthy plant then my part of the bargain is fulfilled; I cannot be expected to be responsible for failure months in the future.
