Mentha cervina (Water spearmint, Preslia) is probably the mintiest smelling of all the water mints, this has shorter and more compact grey-green foliage reminiscent of rosemary, and the usual lilac flowers. It is not as invasive as M aquatica and is great in shallow pebble or gravel beaches where the aromatic foliage can be enjoyed.
